Hearing about what it was like back then makes me both grateful to live in such a time of (relative) tolerance, and concerned that such times may once again be fading... I find the fact that I might have been burned at the stake for refusing to accept the idea of Hell, or a sentient Evil Force, to be chilling indeed. Then again, with documentaries like Paradise Lost, I am reminded that in some ways, and in some places, it seems like we really haven't made much progress at all...
