Got these from the Order of the Science Scouts of Exemplary Repute and Above Average Physique. Seriously tempted to apply for membership... ;)

The "talking science" badge--as most of you who know me are aware, it's something I'm pretty much willing to do anytime, anywhere, and often for longer than is necessarily prudent.

"Arts and Crafts--because you can't have a bunch of badges without an Arts and Crafts badge!" I knit, I spin, I do pretty things with ink, I do woodwork, and in general I like to make stuff!

The "I'm pretty comfortable around an open flame" badge. Between my pyrophilia and the part where I like spinning balls of fire around my body, I think this applies ^_^

The "My degree inadvertently makes me competent in fixing household appliances" badge. Can I get back to you on that once I finish attempting to repair [livejournal.com profile] fortryll's Treo?

The "Has frozen stuff just to see what happens" badge, levels 1, 2, and 3: Have frozen something--in the freezer, with dry ice, and in liquid nitrogen, respectively--for the sake of scientific curiosity. I've done lots of things in the freezer (hot water vs cold water--which freezes faster? Various other substances--turns out you can't get dry ice by mixing vinegar and baking soda in a sealed jar and putting it into the freezer...) a few things with dry ice (blowing-bubbles make really neat sculptures on dry ice, and when you put dry ice in a pop bottle with water and screw the cap on really tightly, the resulting pressure differential through the plastic can lead to some very energetic results--now I know why they're called "pop" bottles!) and a few things in liquid nitrogen (mmmm, those little marshmellows taste so good when they've got that crunch to them, and the way they stick to your tongue adds a nice tang! Plus the little puffs of condensed water vapor that come out of your mouth are so cute ^_^)

The "I bet I know more computer languages than you, and I'm not afraid to talk about it" badge. Okay, maybe I don't know more computer languages than some of you, but I'm definitely not afraid to talk about it (you know where to reach me!)

The "I've done science with no conceivable practical application" badge. Depending on how you define "practical," a lot of my experiments are like this. (Then again, if "my own entertainment" is "practical" I'm going to have to give this badge back...)

The "I'm a scientist who is fundamentally opposed to administrative duties" badge. Which is why I need an order-placer and inventory-track--uh, I mean, research assistant!

The "experienced with electrical shock" badge, Level 3: In which the recipient has had experience with the electrical shocking of himself/herself. I've, um, "experimented" with electrical fences, tazers, violet wands, and nine-volt batteries (mmm, tasty!) ^_^

I think there's something wrong with your link at the top. It points back to this entry.
