Red, green, and gold
Nov. 1st, 2004 07:49 amFirst off, this weekend was thoroughly awesome! Friday I got to go home early because I had stayed late on Thursday. Saturday I got to go for a great ride through the Virginia countryside in its full autumnal glory (and let me tell you, that is a lot of glory! ;) Then I went up to Baltimore with some friends to see Rasputina perform. Very cool. For those of you who aren't familiar with them, it's a 3-person group: two cellists and a drummer. But I'm not talking about your regular, unmodified cello; oh no, the cellos I'm talking about are electric, and they use a lot of the effects to very, very interesting ends. (Seriously, imagine the sound of a cello. Now imagine the effect that you get with an overdriven electric guitar. Yeah, that's one example of what they do ;) They play a variety of songs, both their own and cover (their version of Barracuda was terrific) and I had a thoroughly good time. Sunday I went to a bar in Dupont called Asylum that has a great brunch for a really good price, and then we went next door to a CD/Game exchange and I found a copy of Final Fantasy Tactics. I haven't had a chance to try it out, but I am looking forward to getting many hours of medieval enjoyment from it ^_^ Then I came back home and proceeded to get all six of the Halloween Quest Badges (yay Trick or Treating, even if it is only virtual ;) so yeah, this was the sort of weekend I love. ^_^
