Umberto Eco: The Name of the Rose. You are a
mystery novel dealing with theology, especially
with catholic vs liberal issues. You search
wisdom and knowledge endlessly, feeling that
learning is essential in life.
Which literature classic are you?

Sweet. I suppose I should read it--especially since it's "Catholics vs. Liberals" ;)
Happy Time
Dec. 2nd, 2004 07:41 pmOkay, first, it needs to be noted that the little shopping mall across the street from the Pentagon Fashion Center is a dangerous and treacherous place. There, four stores are arranged kitty-corner from each other in such a way that the elements of Best Buy, Borders, Marshall's, and Linens and Things combine in a kind of dark alchemy to form an element whose properties include an incredibly strong gravitational pull on money. I went in there hoping to get a few things from Best Buy to help ameliorate my phone situation (weird static, thought it might be from my cables or splitter or something) and a pair of reading glasses from Borders to see if they would help alleviate my headache, and ended up coming out with these items plus a new pair of pants and two books on math (hey, one of the titles was Another Fine Math You've Got Me Into...! How am I supposed to resist that?!)
I have subsequently discovered that corduroy is awesome and that yes, the reading glasses were a good idea (headache is pretty much gone).
I've also installed the network card that I picked up last Friday into my computer and it works with my DSL modem (furthering my suspicions that my on-board NIC has given up the ghost), so now there is hope that I'll be able to start using FreeBSD and Linux again and still connect to the Internet (I'm pretty sure that there aren't any drivers that would have worked for the USB connection to the DSL modem, but feel free to tell me I'm wrong if you know better :)
All in all, I'd have to say that it's turning out to be a pretty nice evening so far ^_^
