Joel congrats!!! We're really excited for you! You definately alwasy were very happy playing with code, and darn good at it too (helping us with our Fortran debugging :-D)
And I agree, telling them the commute and the need to try new things would probably be very good reasons. I would also mention your job there would be more in line with your interests. We hope it all works out for you hun!!
