A post in another friend's journal referencing broken models from the 50's reminded me of a edutainment short that I had seen back in college ([livejournal.com profile] belushi81x, [livejournal.com profile] coie, and [livejournal.com profile] fad_knitter, I'm looking at you!) A flash of inspiration led me to a You Tube search which yielded success and now allows me to present to you A Date With Your Family!

It seems so obviously wrong when you lay it out like that... but when I look closely at myself, I sometimes see shadows that look like they could be cast by some of the ideas presented in that.

Oh, dear god..
That's not funny.
Or rather it is.

I wouldn't be overstating things anywhere near as much as I wish it were for me to say "That's the family I grew up in."

Head, desk. Not going to do that with/to my kids.
Family dinner, yes. Enforced conformity, not so much.

Yeah... I really really really want to stay clear of the "family through repression" model. "Be yourself... but be your best self!" *twitch* *twitch*

LOL! The 3 of us were actually talking about MST3K today on our car trip from St Louis back home..... Kathi said she found a lot of them online... I must find some myself!
