This year I had Thanksgiving with [livejournal.com profile] elkor and [livejournal.com profile] margoeve's parents as well as Elkor's sister. All in all I must say that it went pretty well ^_^

Interestingly enough, it turned out to be a rather anti-vampiric Thanksgiving. My major responsibility for the day was (aside from helping to move furniture when necessary) to stay out of the way while they were getting things set up downstairs. I accomplished this by playing Castlevania: Circle of the Moon for a large chunk of the morning. Then after we had Thanksgiving dinner, we watched about three episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I was highly amused :)

It was mostly nice being able to spend Thanksgiving with Elkor and Margoeve's relatives, though there were a few tense moments where politics were brought up. It was kind of like watching a train wreck about to happen in slow motion--I could see what was going on, but I was powerless to do anything about it ;) Fortunately disaster was pretty much avoided and I got to bail when the aforementioned episodes of Buffy were turned on.

Also of amusement is that we at least gave lipservice to the great Thanksgiving tradition of watching football; instead of The Big Game, though, we watched The Longest Yard.

The night ended and my birthday began with me going to CompUSA with [livejournal.com profile] fortryll at about 10:30 to get in line for their sales. That adventure, however, is deserving of its own post methinks.

And so I shall close with the reflection that it was a day to be thankful for ^_^ More thoughts on other things that I am thankful for may come later ;)

Yes, CompUSA was *quite* the adventure.

How many brownie points did I earn for that? And where is the catalog of things for which I may redeem them? :)

Man, if ever I wished I could pull out a ball gag or two in front of the "in-laws" that would have been it. Thank you for the occasional 'knowing glances' to keep me anchored when that nonsense got started.

I'm so happy that none of us "left the cage." Thank you again so much for being a part of our first family gathering.
