This is not a con report. This is more of a summary. Maybe there will be a report forthcoming, but I cannot say at this point :)

As the title implies, I am home once again. In some ways, I was ready to go home, but in many ways I did not have as much time as I would have liked for going to panels, watching movies, shopping, and especially hanging out with people :) I did make it to many nifty panels (steampunk genre, author reader contracts, gender, LEDs, and so on) and got some shopping in (bought more things for other people than I did for myself, which is a little unusual for me but just how it worked out; saw more things that made me go "Oh, so-and-so would love this!" than I did that made me go "Oh, I would love this!" :)

I spent much more time being social than I originally anticipated, which was a Very Good ThingTM; I am starting to realize, though it is kind of obvious if you think about it, that cons are a fantastic place to meet incredibly passionate people. The very nature of cons tends to weed out people who aren't willing to put up with the hassle of getting there and being there, so you end up with a baseline of people who generally are at least passionate enough to have get that far (there are exceptions: spouses/SOs/friends who got dragged along, and first timers who might not realize everything that a convention entails, etc.)

I also ended up seeing more of Boston than I had anticipated, due in part to falling in with a group of people that had some locals (and former locals) in it. It was good to get away from the convention for a few hours as well; I think people act slightly differently at cons than they do in a Chinese restaurant, and it's better for getting to know them if you can interact with them in both settings ^_^

All in all, I was expecting to have a great time and ended up having an even better one. I'm looking forward to next year ^_^

I'm glad you had a good time. Yes, cons usually bring out the best and worst in fanatics and fans and fen of whatever stripe. Because of the strong self-selection, the chances of finding a higher percentage of like-minded and interesting people are way way higher than in, say, your average shopping mall.

No, no further delays after that initial half-hour delay that you already knew about :) Fighting the grogginess a little bit today, but that's normal and after another good night's rest tonight it should clear up ^_^
