tcepsaConsidering that it's been over a week since my last update of anything approaching what I consider "substance" I figure it's about time for at least a quick review of the last week or so:
Monday: Hung out with friends. Had fun. Saw Lost. Played with cats. Good times ^_^
Tuesday: Worked late. Played Bridge. Woo hoo!
Wednesday-Friday: Can't remember doing anything in particular, but I know my days were screwy because I kept getting in to work late and then staying later than usual. Basically the evenings of Wednesday and Thursday were a mix of IM, reading other people's LJs, talking with Judy, and Final Fantasy Tactics.
Friday Evening: Called home, chatted with my family for a few hours, wished my sister happy birthday and expanded on my own birthday wishlist--Only three more days! Three more days of being taunted by that box on my dining table that Judy sent me that I have forbidden myself to open until the actual day... but that doesn't mean I won't stay up until midnight on Wednesday to open it as soon as possible! I think of it as advance training for Christmas ;) --and then talked with Judy until around 8 or 9. Proceeded to play Tactics until 2 AM or so. Hi, my name is Tcepsa, and I'm an addict...
Saturday: Slept in (yay!) Was awoken by a friend calling to see whether I'd like to do some exploring of DC. Went to the light exhibit in the Smithsonian, then had a late lunch at Le Creperie at Pentagon City. Mmmmm, creeeepes... Then went to EB Games and picked up The Matrix, Finding Nemo, and Unreal Tournament 2004 (fight fire with fire; this should help me break away from Tactics a little O:) Then headed to Eisenhower Ave. and the ColdStone Creamery there and split a "like it" of Strawberry Banana Rendezvous goodness. I'm not sure about my companion, but I was definitely full after that ^_^ Proceeded back to my place and watched The Matrix, then installed UT2k4 and again, between it and Tactics, enjoyed the world of digital games until the early morning hours.
Sunday: ~5:15 AM Judy called; her car had just stopped running on her way home, and she ended up pushing it off to the side of the road and hiking the rest of the way home. Did my best to calm her down and reassure her that it wasn't necessarily a fatal problem, and chatted about it and the difference between existing and living for the next hour and a half or so. Went back to sleep until about 2 PM. Got up, had breakfast, played more Tactics. Ryan called at about 4 looking for help moving an entertainment center that he had bought from a friend. We negotiated a deal whereby I would help him move it in exchange for dinner--and he let me borrow the car to go to Ikea while he was setting it up after we had gotten it to his place. I now have more lamps and enough kitchen supplies to make me feel like I can actually make meals. I'll probably do some cooking this evening to celebrate. Nothing fancy--just one of those "boil water, milk, and butter and then add noodles and sauce and let simmer for 5 minutes" meals, but it's still more than I usually make ^_^ After I got back, we beat Bubble Bobble on his MAME emulator. I truly do mourn the severe reduction of games that you can win in a few hours; even after about 10 years, some of my favorite games were ones made for the NES. We then proceeded to Dak's Steakhouse, which has one of the best dirty chicken linguine meal I've ever eaten. Of course, their's is also the only one I've ever eaten, but it's definitely among my favorite foods. He then took me home and I talked with Judy and set up my new lamps. I'm still deciding whether I like the new energy saving bulbs in my floor lamp; they don't offer as much light overall as the incandescents did, but I think I can probably make it work. I ended up going to bed at around 1, and tossed and turned until about 2. That'll teach me to sleep in until 2 in the afternoon... ;)
This morning: Got into work at my normal time, brought in my new lucky bamboo (another acquirement from Ikea) and am getting started on a new week. Yay for fun ^_^
Future plans for the rest of the week:
Tonight: Relax. Clean up apartment. Make food. Possibly do more writing or work on the comic or programming... maybe a little of each of the above ^_^
Tuesday: Probably happy hour with some friends. Contemplate packing for trip home.
Wednesday: Pack and slack; get ready to take off to see my family back in Minnesota, then play games and read and such :)
Thursday: Happy Birthday to me!!! (Oh, yeah, and happy Thanksgiving too ;) Open present from Judy. Fly to Minnesota. Have Thanksgiving dinner with family. Enjoy birthday cheesecake. Open presents from family. Play with new toys ^_^
Friday: Relax with family. See The Incredibles again.
Saturday-Sunday: Continue to enjoy vacation and family. No particular plans. Probably will involve card games and hopefully Mario Kart Double Dash (sure, my siblings will probably pretty much slaughter me, but it's so much fun while it's happening =)
Monday: Fly back to DC. Decompress from vacation ^_^
Except for the flying parts, pretty much all plans are subject to change ;)
