This makes me ridiculously gleeful. Not primarily because of the actual parties involved, but at the more abstract level: a politician is now being thwarted by legislation that he supported.

Full disclosure: I am enjoying it more, I think, because it was a piece of legislation that I feel is ill-conceived.

Heh. I totally agree.

I think YouTube's response could have been even stronger, something along the lines of "We are particularly reluctant to treat politicians in any preferential fashion because politicians are uniquely positioned to modify the relevant laws to better balance the rights of copyright holders and others."
