Botheration. I can't decide whether I really don't want to go out and do something this evening, or whether I'm just being avoidant. On the one hand there are lots of things that I'd like to do around the house (three of them being Portal, Audiosurf, and Metroid Prime ^_^) and it seems like it might be fitting to try to get some kind of filing system established and maybe wipe out at least a chunk of the papers that are taking over the kitchen sidetable, since much of that is paperwork of various forms from the past year.

On the other hand, I've been told that I ought not hermit completely, and that going out to gatherings occasionally is a good thing. Since this is at least a culturally important time if not a personally important one, it would be a good opportunity to do so.

Back on the first hand, I just got back from the Family Christmas (at which there were 42 people for at least one meal) and I went to coffee last night, so it's not like I haven't been getting non-work-related social interaction recently.

Back on the second hand, and this one irritates me but might prove to be the tipping factor, I don't want to feel like I'm the only one "not doing anything" for New Year's. Apparently at least certain aspects of it are important to me (the whole thing is, really, but at the same time the arbitrariness of it bugs me so part of me wants to not-take-part as a sort of protest, and part of me wants to recognize it anyway).

So. Questions.
1) What is going on in the area that I might be able to make it to?
2) Is anyone else out there planning on not-doing-anything social?
3) Would anyone be interested in coming to my place for a low-key something? (crackers and cheese, maybe some champagne, possibly chocolate fondue, boardgames and/or cardgames--videogames, kitchen-table-cleaning, and various forms of Science would be optional ^_^) The house is a bit of a mess, but I can probably have it fairly presentable in an hour or two so if people started showing up at 7 or 8 that would work ^_^
<input ... >

Regardless, I wish you all a safe and happy holiday ^_^

Shiny, that would mean that I'm not the only one celebrating with Valve products! ^_^
