here that talks about the Iraqi transitional assembly electing Jalal Talabani to be the president. Part of the article discusses how Saddam Hussein and 11 other "high-value detainees" were allowed to watch the footage as well, and there is a comment in the article by Bakhtiar Amin (interim minister of human rights):
"[The former officials] have seen an election, and the parliament elected a president, and it's not like before where the transfer of power was done through the shedding of blood, military coups and invasions," [Amin] said.Maybe it's just me, but it seems like there's a pretty short chain of causality from the 2003 invasion of Iraq to this transfer of power...
