Stephanie Pearl-McPhee is a knitter with a blog. Usually she focuses on knitting-related escapades, but she also throws in a good dose of things that are relevant even to people who aren't fiber fanatics. This post is one of those, and I'd highly recommend it to anybody who is in, wants to be in, or suspects they may someday desire to have a close relationship with another person.

Snagged this from a comment on the CPU blog. It's a link to a fun video presentation on happiness, and it's got some really fascinating information about the differences between synthetic happiness (what we create when we don't get what we want) and natural happiness (what we create when we do get what we want)--and how perhaps natural happiness is overrated.

Towards the end he brings up a quotation from Adam Smith (economist and moral philosopher) that made me go, "Oh my god, he's talking about [livejournal.com profile] 3ravensringo's Theory of Cornflakes!"

This time to an article that I found through [livejournal.com profile] dreamhawk. It's an article about two great Lies, and it ties into some of the exploring of certain (unrealistic) ideals of what it means to be self-sufficient that I've been doing (reinforcing the idea that, while using that as a role model is a bad plan, it is understandable that it's what I've been unconsciously using): Here's the way to get there.

Meeeeeme!
