elkor recently posted a rant about chain mail/e-mail (I'm sure you've seen the kind that I'm talking about; it usually contains an injunction to forward it to X people or A Bad Thing will happen to you). It's an article about two great Lies, and it ties into some of the exploring of certain (unrealistic) ideals of what it means to be self-sufficient that I've been doing (reinforcing the idea that, while using that as a role model is a bad plan, it is understandable that it's what I've been unconsciously using): Here's the way to get there.
