I am thankful for [livejournal.com profile] gipsieee. For her support of my hobbies, and my geekiness, and my wackiness. It makes me incredibly happy to know that she's looking forward to our next camping adventure, and that we have Bromptons, and that we're seriously looking at making or buying a tiny house in the soon-enough-that-I-can-keep-being-excited-about-it-rather-than-tell-myself-no-you-have-to-wait-it's-too-far-away-to-really-think-about-yet timeframe ^_^ I'm also thankful that she's been encouraging and helping me learn how to cook since we started dating; I think dinner yesterday has been our biggest triumph so far. We're going to be eating well for quite some time!

I'm thankful for my job and my coworkers. Last year was not so great as I spent most of it working on things that I'd really rather not have been working on (realistically, the tasks themselves were fine; it's the codebase that I really wish I hadn't had to deal or interface with). This year is shaping up to be a lot more fun and more interesting and less wondering "what am I going to break with this?" and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm also really glad that they're putting me through a Master's degree; I'm loving the classes that I've been taking so far, and I think they've helped me develop as a, um, developer. So that's good. ^_^

I'm thankful for my family, both sides, who called me up to wish me a happy birthday even though Thanksgiving was the next day, and who did so much towards helping our wedding be the wonderful occasion that it was.

A small house?! Neat! Like a tumbleweed? Did you know the plans for the XS house are on sale this weekend? http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/houses/xs-house/

I love the small house movement. What fun.

Actually, yes! We're seriously thinking about going with a Tumbleweed. Thanks for the tip that those plans are on sale ^_^ We're looking at going with something a little larger, though (100-200 sq. ft.)

But yeah, it seems like a really fun thing to try to both of us ^_^

They're so cool. I take it you're reading all the small house blogs then? Gypsy Rose is one I really like. The XS house seems a bit extreme in its tiny-ness, I think one of the slightly larger ones is probably wise.

I guess that plan is kind of at odds with my next question. I saw [livejournal.com profile] gipsieee's post where she mentioned weaving. I'm going to be moving soon (at least, I hope I will, assuming the house I'm buying finally goes to settlement) and I happen to have a large loom that hasn't been getting any attention for years. I don't know if I'm quite ready to part with it for good but would you guys be interested in taking on some larger, 4-shaft projects for 6 months or so? The only requirement, apart from treating it with care, would be responsibility for moving it at either end - I can help, but it's too heavy for me to move on my own. I'll post this over at gipsieee's lj too. Assuming I can figure out where I packed the heddle hook, it would come with that, a warping board, and a couple reeds.

Blar, we fail at prompt replies! I'd need to double-check with [livejournal.com profile] gipsieee, but I believe that between school and the fact that I'm giving her something similar to a Schacht Cricket for Christmas (except 24" wide and I made everything but the heddle myself ^_^), and we're going to be trying to incorporate most of her stuff from Winchester into the house in Baltimore next week, I just don't think that it would make sense for us to borrow it from you now. Which sucks, because under other circumstances the opportunity to work with a full-sized loom like that would be freaking AWESOME! But yeah, I don't know that we'll have an appropriate space for it, and I'm reasonably certain that neither of us will have an appropriate amount of time for it such that we'd be able to finish anything in 6 months (which seems ridiculous on one hand, but at the same time, we are apparently actually very busy recluses ~wry grin~). Thank you very much for the offer, and if it should happen to come up again under different circumstances, we might very well take you up on it.

In the meantime, happy holidays and good luck with everything!
