The Internet Has Failed Me

I need (i.e. want very badly) electric fence so that I can continue with my chainmail work. However, as far as I have been able to ascertain, Lowe's does not carry it. I have spent a good chunk of time scouring the Internet to try to find a place nearby (within an hour of Alexandria) that sells it, to no avail. The only other hardware place that I know of nearby is Home Depot, and I'm kind of doubting that they'd carry it.

Does anyone know of any farm supply or hardware stores nearby that carry (or even probably carry) it? Maybe a tack shop? Something?

Galvanized steel electric fence is some of the most budget-effective "raw" material that chainmail-makers can get :) ($10-20 for ~880 yards, depending on the gauge) It's also nice and strong (stiffer than the aluminum variety that I was using when I was there on Saturday), though it's a good deal heavier than aluminum as well.

I am hoping to experiment with additional types of wire (any suggestions? I'm trying to keep an eye open for bare 14-17 gauge copper, but haven't found anything yet), but the other reason I want the galvanized steel is because I'm hoping to finish a shirt in time for Heaven and Hell and I wanted to use the same material throughout. Plus I'm going to visit my Dad who is in New York this weekend for work and a 3-4 hour bus trip each way will be a great opportunity to work on it, which is why I've been in a bit of a hurry to find some :)

I'm suprised Home Depot doesn't have it. Maybe it's a Hampton Roads thing (more rural than around here).

Many thanks! I know it wasn't a problem for me back in Minnesota; just go to Fleet Farm or Menards :) But here, it's a little trickier. I'll be placing an order shortly (and might try to check out some of the ones near town tonight, too).
