Adventures!
May. 19th, 2005 09:50 amYesterday evening I drove down to see Revenge of the Sith with some friends in Woodbridge. While the movie was awesome, and the best part of my evening, it was not in fact the most exciting part. That would have been as I was hurtling down I-95 and suddenly I hear a sort-of-crunching, sort-of-snapping sound that was sort of like gravel hitting my chassis but was off enough to make me go "that didn't sound right..." This was followed shortly by my speedometer getting twitchy and then failing entirely as the Check Engine Light of Doom came on.
I managed to make it off the road and get the car to my friends' place and we subsequently ended up taking it to a nearby dealer. By that time I was getting really worried, since it's obvious that there's something more wrong than just the speedometer cable snapping. I had checked the transmission fluid, coolant, and oil levels just after pulling off and they seemed okay, but I heard a distinct sloshing sound as we drove to the mechanic. In addition, the engine started to misfire (or do something that caused me to lose acceleration and that made the car shake a bit in a very disconcerting manner). At this point, I just hope I don't have to sell too much of my soul to have it taken care of (and that I haven't done irreparable damage by driving it to the mechanics after getting it off the freeway).
On the plus side, I am still alive and physically uninjured, for which I am deeply grateful.
Further updates as events warrant.
