And all that time I figured I was just doing something wrong by not being able to hold the violin up without my hands. Apparently what I was doing wrong was trying to make that work without a shoulder rest ^_^

Long neck is looooong.

Yeah, that *would* be a problem. And leads to needless violins... With a shoulder rest, you shouldn't need to bow your head and fiddle around so much. Now you can loosen your grip on your neck and breathe easier. :P

I've never played the violin... but I would like to think I wouldn't need to be told that.....
