Just out of curiosity, I'm going to ask an obvious question. When you see it, you'll probably go "Well, duh, of course!" Why bother with such an exercise? To help shore up a point that is often overlooked unless the question is asked point blank as I am about to ask it.

Ready?

Good, here we go!

Does being around a good friend when they are happy make you happier?

In fact, I'll even add a bonus question.

Bonus: Does being around a good friend when they are happy, even if you're in a bad mood, help cheer you up?

Edited at 7 PM EST: Changed from first to third person because there was apparently some confusion about the purpose of this little survey--hopefully that clears it up.

Sometimes. Is this a hypothetical 'me' or is it actually you? You generally help to cheer me, however, there are certain bad moods and certain good moods that I find do not mix well, and sometimes the opposite happens and the good mood person's good mood loses some of its goodness, no? -(bethie j)
